REVERIE Jan 2020 announcement

REVERIE has a new pub date!

Okay so this morning a few things happened. First, the first GRIT+PEARL letter came out, and it contained an announcement about REVERIE. Then I posted about it directly on twitter to clue in everyone who doesn’t subscribe to GRIT+PEARL, which is like….most people.

(So the point is that you should subscribe to GRIT+PEARL)

Anyways, the news: REVERIE was going to be published in November 2019, but will now be published in January 2020.

That’s right. An additional two months of waiting! You can all put your cash back in your trundle beds, or wherever you keep your savings. It’ll be quite some time before you can make me very famous and rich.

On a serious note, I want to pen the following in the indelible ink of this blog: THIS IS NOT A BAD THING. Books get bumped all the time. It’s part of the arcane magic that holds publishing together. And, really, the reasons I have are super legit. They are:

  1. My editor, Annie, and I have big plans for REVERIE, and want to prioritize giving this book as much time, lead-up, and support as we can. REVERIE is being bumped because there’s potential to be leveraged, not because it’s insignificant to the SBF editorial calendar.
  2. November is a crowded month in book world. Lots of huge names put out titles at this time, for the holidays, and I am….not a big name. Competing with that action is a little hopeless, no matter how well REVERIE does. REVERIE is already a bit niche, so Jan allows a better chance for impact.
  3. I’m late to everything–every trend, every fashion–by two months. Why not this, too?
  4. Oh also a Jan 2020 launch puts REVERIE securely in the range of consideration for 2020 best-of lists, and awards, and all that. I know it sounds a bit horrible to admit I’m aware of this but….I am. You would be, too. Shh.
  5. Lastly, I’ll never willingly bring a Sagittarius into this world.

And so with that REVERIE is now a Capricorn! You’re welcome!

If people have questions, feel free to DM me. There’s like….not a ton more to this story so I’m truly hoping people trust me that this is all good and tidy, and not indicative of some toxic fissure among my pages, or between me and my editor. Non of that stuff.
