Returning

My life has been a lot of circles lately.

This–as in this act of typing up a post–is the most recent circle. The most recent return.

Today Jackson and I are hiding from the rain and writing. At least that’s what our headline for the day was. “JACKSON AND RYAN RETURN TO WRITING.” A more accurate headline would be: “JACKSON AND RYAN GET MANICURES AND THEN WATCH TWO EPISODES OF ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK AND THEN LISTEN TO LANA DEL REY AND BRAINSTORM WHERE THEY WILL ORDER FOOD FROM.”

But I’m here, typing, aren’t I? I suppose this is writing. And while I’m at it, I suppose I better explain my hiatus.

I was recruited by a recruiting company to work as a recruiter. A specialty recruiter! I’ve been there for about 6 weeks, and I’m still a bit unable to explain concisely what it is that I do. In short, I am a fancy head hunter. A more expanded, poetic title might be: Grand Supreme Arbiter of Opportunities Within Digital Marketing, PR, Tech, Media, and Beyond.

This job is in Boston, and subsequently I had to pry myself out of the cushy suburban calcification that I’d settled into post-college, and move myself back into the city in the span of about two weeks. It was wonderful and intense and harrowing, and I’m only just feeling myself touching solid ground.

So that’s a return, too, right? Returning to Boston, and my urban lifestyle?

Ever since I stopped, I’ve been itching to get back into my writing. So, in the name of holding myself to my vows, I’m going to wrap up this small re-introduction so I can get to it. In the next few weeks, I’m hoping to review the books I’ve been reading the past several weeks (The Maze Runner and the first Game of Thrones book, among many), and do a few more Metaphoric-weekly posts. I’ve also got  a TON of stories, and perhaps a few social commentary posts I’ve been mulling over.

I’m also going to do some status update on my book-in-progress, which is actually done but mostly needs to be revised with a cooled, discerning eye.

So, hello website! Hello reader! Hello everyone who has stopped me in the streets, or at parties, or in mid-conversation and told me that they love my writing. It’s inexplicable to me that eyes other than my own pass over these words, and remember them, and light up with them. You’re all lovely, and every compliment has tugged me closer to returning to my website, my chronicling, and my general need to over-share.

xoxo

ryan
